The Scholarship Award

The Powdermaker Foundation Scholarship is a 4-year scholarship award, valued at up to $2,000
per academic school year.  Awards may fluctuate based on individual need and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Who May Apply For A Scholarship

All scholarship applicants must be graduating students at Dallas County high schools with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale); a proven record of community, school and extracurricular activities; demonstrated leadership potential; demonstrated financial need; and a citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States. Scholarship applicants must plan to attend full-time at an approved college or vocational school.

The Application Process

Each applicant must submit a completed application (click on the link at the bottom of the page) accompanied by the required criteria as outlined in the application material. The deadline for submitting your application is April 1 for Fall enrollment. Qualifying applicants will be interviewed by the Selection Committee, who will provide recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Scholarship Renewal

Scholarship awardees must maintain required academic criteria in order to retain their scholarship. Transcripts will be subject to review throughout the school year.  If all requirements are met and the awardee remains a full-time student, the scholarship will be automatically renewed. The award shall not exceed four academic school years and may be revoked at any time by the Powdermaker Foundation.
